We’re all familiar with the old adage, “When one door closes, another opens…” Today we help Tyler through to the new chapter in his life. You may remember him from The Tylergotchi Experiment, and when he was serenaded during Christmas by the Charlie Brown Christmas Song. Regardless of where you may or may not recognize him from, we will continue to remember (and pester him) fondly.
We were fortunate to be able to ask him a few questions before he begins his new journey outside of the Wildland walls.
How long have you been at Wildland?
I’ve been at Wildland for a little under 2 years.
Why are you leaving?
My wife is taking a job at the University of Portland, so we’re moving. I’ll be a stay-at-home dad for our two kids.
Who were you at Wildland?
My title is Project Manager, but I’m a dev wrangler and a cheerleader too. I’d like to think I was helpful in keeping everyone focused and calm, and making sure people took time to appreciate their successes and not dwell on their challenges.
What are you going to miss most after leaving?
The friendship of my coworkers. Wildland has the best people working here, and I am genuinely sad to leave the company of such awesome and caring people.
How are you going to spend your time after leaving?
Hopefully I won’t be too exhausted, but I’ll be a stay-at-home dad for my daughter Claire and son Hudson. I’ll be trying to keep them occupied without feeling like I’m going to pass out.
What are a few memories that stand out to you at Wildland?
What restaurant are you going to miss the most?
I’m actually surprised at how long the list is, but I think I will miss Shiki Sushi most of all. The spicy edamame is amazing!
What song/album is going to remind you of this time in your life?
S.O.B., by Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, but overall Erin’s playlists are pretty amazing.
What are you most proud of during your tenure at Wildland?
I think I’m just really proud of the whole team, and the way we have expanded and grown without losing the closeness and camaraderie that makes us unique. This team is great, and even through the multitude of changes over the years, we’ve never lost sight of what makes our team special.
What sage advice are you going to leave with us?
Wildland is about the people, and if we take care of ourselves and others, we can do anything!
